What Is Non-GMO?
GMO stands for genetically modified organism. Consumer information regarding genetically modified food is not currently regulated in the United States.
Approximately 91% of America’s soybean crop is grown from genetically modified seed and food companies are not required to disclose genetically modified ingredients on their packaging.
In response to this, the Non-GMO Project’s verification program was created. Nearly 900 products have been verified to date, with thousands more in the process of becoming verified and new products joining the program every day.
